Event description: 

Sonia E. Sultan is a plant evolutionary ecologist whose research focuses on the developmental interplay between genetic and environmental influences and the evolutionary implications of this complex interplay. She has addressed these issues in three decades of highly cited scientific articles, in numerous international keynote lectures and symposia, and in her 2015 Oxford University Press book Organism and Environment. Sultan holds a B.A. in History and Philosophy of Science from Princeton University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard. She is an Associate of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, an External Faculty member of the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution & Cognition in Austria, and sits on the Advisory Board of the University of Illinois Kellner Center for Neurogenomics, Behavior and Society.
